WAR ON SHORE, a whole new level...

UM, I THINK THIS MIGHT CHANGE A FEW THINGS...
NO MORE KEG STANDS...well at least not in the quad

November 1, 2005
"War on the Shore" Set for Baltimore
Annual Washington-Salisbury Showdown
to be Held at M&T Bank Stadium in 2006

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The hottest rivalry in small college lacrosse goes to a whole new level on April 29th, 2006, as national power Washington College square off against rival and three-time defending NCAA Division III National Champion Salisbury University at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore at 8:00 p.m. This year’s game marks the first time that the annual regular season showdown between the two teams, known as “The War on the Shore,” will be held at a neutral site. The winner of the game is presented with the Charles B. Clark Cup.

The Sea Gulls and the Shoremen have met 37 times since the rivalry began in 1974. Washington leads the series by the slimmest of margins, 19-18. Last year’s “War on the Shore” drew an estimated 2,100 fans to Chestertown, while the 2004 game brought an official crowd of 2,808 to Salisbury. The “War on the Shore” is consistently the most well-attended regular season non-Division I men’s lacrosse game.

“The War on the Shore,” is so named because Washington College and Salisbury University are the only two Division III institutions in Maryland's largely-rural Eastern Shore region. The combination of small schools, small towns, and two of the most well-known teams in collegiate lacrosse gives this rivalry a unique flavor.

In 2004, a new element was added to the Salisbury-Washington rivalry with the introduction of the Charles B. Clark Cup. Clark was a student-athlete, educator and men’s lacrosse coach at Washington College, and later, an educator and men’s lacrosse coach at Salisbury University. A member of the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame, Coach Clark led both institutions to national lacrosse prominence while demonstrating and teaching the highest ideals of sportsmanship, teamwork and competitive athletic spirit.

This year's game in Baltimore is being held in conjunction with the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship Tournament, which takes place April 28th and April 30th at M&T Bank Stadium. The Washington-Salisbury game on April 29th will be preceded by a high school double-header.

The Washington College men's lacrosse team has won 542 games in its 64 seasons of varsity play. The Shoremen won the 1998 NCAA Division III National Championship and the 1954 USILA Laurie Cox Division Co-National Championship. The Shoremen finished the 2005 season with a 10-5 record and was ranked eighth in the final Geico/STX National Division III Coaches Poll.

The Salisbury University men's lacrosse team has won the last three NCAA Division III National Championships and has won an NCAA all-division record 49 consecutive games. Overall, Salisbury has won six NCAA Division III National Championships. The Sea Gulls went 20-0 in 2005.

breathe me

Six Feet Under

So I got suddenly addicted to this show and it's soundtrack. I by accident caught the piece recollecting the last few years of the show and since then I've watched any available episode as well as the finale, about 3 times. So I've been listening to all of the songs on my mp3 diddy and got quite stuck on the last song in the finale, it's called breathe me by sia.
So, I'm realizing I use the word "so" alot, but I GUESS it's better than saying "like". Anywho, the song has been stuck in my head and I listen to it in the car everyday, and I get home and apparently me and MSNBC are liking the same song. They made a collage video of the pics of the people being saved or trying to be saved down in New Orleans.
Now this song that I liked listening to on the way to work b/c I found it to be a good driving song has become an anthem for the hurricane. And all I can see when I hear it are all the people waiting to be rescued from the roof...

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone down there, and across the nation, that may be somewhat touched by what nature's fury has brought us...

Bren- have you heard from anyone in new orleans?

The Fest

Well, it was grand to see all the folks who turned out for LoveFest 2005. Courtney and I went and slept for nearly ten minutes in a damp tent, but still managed to enjoy ourselves. I apologize if we left abruptly, McDonald's and a hot shower were calling.

It was good to see Lund, Jenn and Mike (I hope I got that right), Brandon and Lauren (I hope I got that right), Wisconsin Rick (I hope I got that right), Lauren Herndon, The Storke, Kelly Logan and friends, Carolyn and friend (sorry, I don't even have a chance at remembering that guy's name), and a few dozen Phi Delt brothers who care less about campus politics and more about relaxing and calling each other "dicks." Good times.

If I forgot you, GFY. If you didn't show up, you were missed. Mark your calendars for next year. If anyone has good pictures, post 'em!

And don't forget to check for ticks.

Last Day

Hello again! I have no idea if anyone even looks at this thing anymore, but I'm gonna post anyway...

Today is my last day at WAC. It's kinda bitter sweet, really. Although I am certainly look forward to leaving Ctown, I've been here for 6 years. I've even been working in Admissions for 6 years. Before we leave for the day, Kevin said we are going to have a toast in my honor. I know I'll probably get all teary...can't help it. I'm a girl.

If any of you are interested in coming to town...next week is your last chance to have a place to stay at 501. I'm moving out the 25th. My sister is coming down Friday to help me pack, so you'll have to come before that. Thursday night at Andy's should be a show if any of you are interested (or scared).

July 9th...see you at lovefest. Until then....

Signing off.

Jenn

Jenn's Update

It's been awhile, and I'm not even sure who checks this, but here's my Weekend Update.

Things are finally falling into place for me and I'm doing AMAZINGLY well. I've got a new job! Associate Director of Admissions and Financial Aid at Oldfields School in Baltimore!! I'll basically be doing the same thing that I'm doing now, but I'll need a passport for my international travels (oh shucks), I might be able to help coach indoor soccer, and I can go back to school to get my M.Ed in School Counseling (probably at Loyola). Also, after almost 13 years of being apart, my sister (who made settlement on her house in York, PA this past week) and I will only be 30min apart, in 2 different states! It's the closest we've lived to each other in 13 years! CAN'T WAIT!!

My last day at WAC is June 17th (about 2 weeks!) and my first day there is June 27th! Any of you in the Baltimore area, look me up! As a WAC alumnus, I'll be able to keep my email account, but I'll also have the same cell number if you have it (the 302). If not, email me and I'll give it to you.

Summer plans...like every summer, I'll be at the beach a lot. Either at my grandparents house, or the new guy's :o) If you make your way to the DE/MD beaches, call me! And yes, I plan on going to Lovefest in July. I can't imagine why I'd have to work that weekend, so I will see all of you fools there??? Lauren - are you still flying home? If so, I can pick you up on my way!

So, that's me in a nutshell. I've had a grin plastered on my face for the past couple of weeks and I don't see it coming off anytime soon :o)
